11 weeks - across Canada to Vancouver Island - overview - 1979 - 1980 - 1982 - 1987
Stops in Montreal (Gaylene), Mattawa (Motel), Blind River (M), Sault Ste. Marie (M), Nipigon (M),
Dryden (M), Revelstoke (M), Coquitlam/Vancouver (Allen & Martha) and Mill Bay (Marguerite)
Was for 9 weeks in Mill Bay at Marg's boarding house - one minute from ocean and Mill Bay Shopping Centre
Just the perfect spot, as I noticed this already in 1982 when I was there for 8 days ($5 per day instead of the average $25)
Did start (5 days) in Montreal were Marguerite's daughter Gaylene Wellman was living and working as waitress
In Sault Ste. Marie I ran into Scott Hurst and Dan Treichel from Green Bay, WI while on the Agawa Canyon Tour by train
Dryden, ON to Revelstoke, BC was done in one overnight bus ride (my longest Greyhound ride in hrs for this 2109 km)
In Coquitlam again with Allen & Martha McLaren for a short break
Maverick Coach Lines (or PCL) to Nanaimo on-board of BC-Ferries; towards Mill Bay I used my thumb for the last 70 km ;)
In those days there was less scheduled bus services on the Island as it is nowadays
